Le stylo noir: Podróż po Nowym Jorku, nie tylko Piątą Aleją - Część 1 (Journey through NYC, not just down Fifth Ave

Wiele osób, kierujących się w stronę Nowego Jorku, skupia swoją uwagę na Piątej Alei. Pewnie, widok drapaczy chmur, sklepów ekskluzywnych, pięknego Central Parku, czy znanego każdemu z "Kevin sam w domu" hotelu Grand Plaza, zapiera dech w piersiach. Lecz Nowy Jork to nie tylko Piąta Aleja i Central Park.

Miasto przede wszystkim ma do zaoferowania niezwykłą architekturę, stare kamienice z wysokimi schodami, wyrzeżbione budynki, złociste kopuły. Są tu piękne muzea (Moma, MET, Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim) jeśli ma się więcej czasu, czy też parki, jak Madison Square Park z widokiem na budynek Flatiron, Gramercy Park w okolicy Gramercy do którego wstęp mają tylko mieszkańcy tej okolicy (posiadają klucz do bramy wejściowej), Battery Park na dolnym Manhattanie, czy mój ulubiony High Line Park w Chelsea, stare nieużywane tory kolejowe zostały przekształcone i powstał park nad ulicą, prowadzący od Meatpacking District do rzeki Hudson, między budynkami starymi jak i nowymi. Niesamowite widoki.

W Central Parku wiele osób wybiera przejażdżkę bryczką, których obecny gubernator chce się niestety pozbyć, czy jazdę na łyżwach na słynnych Wollman Rink z widokiem na budynki górnego Manhattanu. Nie ma jak spacer po parku z gorącym preclem z nadmiarem soli, czy to w okolicach Grand Plaza Hotel czy Columbus Circle.

Co jeszcze warto zobaczyć? Oto kilka moich ulubionych tras w grudniu, gdy wszystko jest pięknie udekorowane:

1. Przejście przez Central Park od Columbus Circle do Piątej Alei, na Piątej Alei - Tiffany's, Trump Tower, sklepy; wystawy w Saks Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Central (choinka!), Katedra Św. Patryka, dekoracje na Szóstej Alei, Bryant Park, wystawy w Lord & Taylor, Empire State Building, Herald Square i Macy's.
2. South Street Seaport, Freedom Tower na WTC, słynny byk i Wall Street, okolice City Hall, Chinatown, Soho, Union Square.
3. Flatiron (płaski budynek), spacer po Chelsea aż do rzeki, starodawne kamienice, Chelsea Market, High Line park.
4. Dworzec Grand Central, przejście do Times Square

Warto także zobaczyć Lincoln Center, pojechać metrem nad Ocean na Coney Island, popłynąć statkiem za darmo na Staten Island (i zrobić zdjęcia oddalającego się Manhattanu), przejść Brooklyn Bridge, i oczywiście, napić się nowojorskiej kawy, zjeść bagels, kupić na ulicy prażone orzeszki, i zrobić zakupy. W grudniu są tłumy i przeceny, więc warto dołączyć do tłumów.

Nowy Jork nigdy nie śpi, i nie można się nim znudzić, ale ci którzy tęsknią za domem, ze smutkiem w sercu opuszczą to tętniące życiem miasto i powrócą do domu. O tym mieście nie da się zapomnieć, ale na co dzień nie każdemu sprzyjają (tak często pominięte) wady tego miasta. Miasto piękne, ale nie dla wszystkich.

Ale mimo wszystko, to miasto trzeba zobaczyć!

Journey through NYC, not just down Fifth Ave - Part 1

Many people heading in the direction of New York, focus on Fifth Avenue. Sure, the view of skyscrapers, exclusive shops, beautiful Central Park, or known to everyone from "Home Alone" - the Grand Plaza Hotel, is breathtaking. But New York is not just Fifth Avenue and Central Park.

The city primarily has to offer unusual architecture, old townhouses with high staircases, carved buildings, golden domes. There are beautiful museums (Moma, the MET, Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim) if you have more time, or parks, as Madison Square Park with views of the Flatiron building, Gramercy's Gramercy Park, which is reserved exclusively for residents of the area (they have the key to the gate), Battery Park in lower Manhattan, and my favorite High Line Park in Chelsea, where old disused railway tracks have been transformed and created into a park above the street, leading from the Meatpacking District to the Hudson River, between buildings old and new. Amazing views.

In Central Park, many people choose to ride in a horse carriage, which the current governor wants to get rid of, unfortunately, or skate on the famous Wollman Rink with views of the buildings of upper Manhattan. Nothing like a walk in the park with a hot pretzel with an excess of salt, whether in the area of Grand Plaza Hotel or Columbus Circle.

What else is worth seeing? Here are some of my favorite routes in December, when everything is beautifully decorated:

1. Going through Central Park from Columbus Circle to Fifth Avenue, Fifth Avenue - Tiffany's, Trump Tower, shops; store windows at Saks Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Central (tree!), St. Patrick's Cathedral, decorations on Sixth Avenue, Bryant Park, the windows at Lord & Taylor, Empire State Building, Herald Square and Macy's.

2. South Street Seaport, the Freedom Tower at WTC, the famous bull and Wall Street, the area around City Hall, Chinatown, Soho, Union Square.

3. Flatiron (the flat building), stroll through Chelsea to the river, old townhouses, Chelsea Market, High Line park.

4. Grand Central Station, walk to Times Square.

It's also worth seeing the Lincoln Center, riding the subway to see the Ocean at Coney Island, taking the ferry to Staten Island (and taking pictures of the Manhattan left behind), crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, and, of course, having a cup of New York coffee, eating bagels, buying roasted nuts on the street, and doing some shopping. In December there are crowds and sales, do indeed join the crowds!

New York never sleeps, and you can not get bored with it, but those who yearn for home, sadly leave this vibrant city and return home. This town can not be forgotten, but every day life here isn't for everyone, considering the city's (so often omitted) disadvantages. The city is beautiful, but not for everyone.

But above all, this city is a must see!
