Otrzymałam dziś nietypowe zaproszenie na ślub, które odbędzie się w karczmie pod Białymstokiem i będzie w stylu vintage. Dokładnie to, co lubię! Natomiast drobny druczek pod szczegółami zaproszenia sprawił, że zaczęłam się poważnie zastanawiać nad strojem gdyż goście są zachęceni do ubrania się w stroje vintage/retro. Po szybkiej analizie, wpadłam na pewien pomysł - styl Audrey Hepburn.

Ślub to ślub i uważam, że trzeba wyglądać elegancko, nawet w wersji retro. Widzę się w rozkloszowanej małej czarnej, w perłach, które otrzymałam w prezencie od mojego faceta, czarnych baletkach z noskiem, i długich, czarnych rękawiczkach. Nie wiem, czy posunę się aż tak daleko, by zrobić z moich długich włosów upięcie w stylu Audrey, ale duże okulary słoneczne na pewno się przydadzą gdyż ślub będzie w plenerze.

Zrobiłam więc dogłębny research na temat stylu, który zna chyba każda kobieta, który wyrobiła Audrey Hepburn, a który jest do dziś klasyczny, elegancki. Mam na myśli nie tylko jej słynną stylizację ze Śniadania u Tiffany'ego, lecz także czarne cygaretki, czarny golfik lub bluzka i baletki. Lub eleganckie szorty i koszula, czy styl rowerowy czyli proste spodnie, płaskie buty i wygody sweter. Poza słynną stylizacją pod nowojorskim eleganckim sklepem, nie da się także zapomnieć o beżowym trenczu z baletkami, czy krótkim, luźnym golfiku z cygaretkami. Co jest takiego w stylu Audrey, że przetrwał do dziś, i jest powtarzany przez kobiety na całym świecie?

Poza tym, że Audrey była kobietą piękną, elegancką, to ceniła także prostotę i wygodę, stąd płaskie buty lub na niskim obcasie, proste małe czarne i odsłaniające kostki spodnie. Według Cally Blackman, autorki książki 100 lat mody, Audrey nosiła płaskie buty ze względu na swój wzrost, a balerinki “Audrey” od Ferragamo do dziś pozostały modne. Aktorka prezentowała się w krótkich topach, wąskich spodniach, i małych czarnych gdyż po prostu pasowały do jej młodzieńczej urody. Stała się ikoną mody ponieważ wyróżniała się stylem.

Ślub jest za trzy miesiące z kawałkiem, więc jest czas na stworzenie idealnej kreacji. Bardzo kręci mnie styl retro i możliwość pójścia na imprezę w takim stylu. Dziś mam w głowie stylizacji Audrey Hepburn ale co z tego wyniknie? Nigdy nie wiadomo, może coś innego stanie się moją inspiracją po drodze.

Inspiration: Audrey Hepburn’s unique style

Today I received a not so typical invitation to a wedding, which will take place at a country inn outside of Bialystok and will be a vintage-style wedding. Exactly what I love. However, the fine print located underneath the wedding details was what caused me to question my outfit for that day, since guests are encouraged to wear vintage or retro outfits. After a quick analysis, I came up with an idea - Audrey Hepburn style.

A wedding is a wedding and I believe that looking elegant is key, even if it’s retro. I see myself in an A-line black swing dress, in pearls (which I received from my love) and in pointy toe ballet flats, along with long, black satin gloves. I’m not sure, if I’ll go as far as turning my long hair in Audrey’s famous bun, but the big sunglasses will surely come in handy since the wedding will be outside.

So I did some thorough research on the style, which almost every woman knows, which was invented by Audrey Hepburn, and which, still today, remains classic and elegant. And I don’t mean just the famous outfit from Breakfast at Tiffany’s but also the black skinny ankle pants, the black turtleneck or top and ballet flats. Or the elegant shorts and blouse, or the bike outfit composed of straight pants, flats and a comfy sweater. Besides the famous dress worn outside New York’s elegant store, we also can’t forget the famous beige trench with flats, or the short, loose turtleneck with skinny pants. What’s so unique about Audrey’s style, that it is still famous today and implemented by women all around the world?

Besides the fact that Audrey was beautiful and elegant, she valued comfort and simplicity, which is why she wore flats or shoes on small heels, and the little black dresses or black skinny pants. According to Cally Blackman, author of “100 Years of Fashion.” Audrey wore flats due to her height, and the Ferragamo “Audrey” flats still sell out today. The actress presented herself in crop tops, skinny pants and little black dresses because they simply matched her youthfulness. She became an icon of fashion because her style simply differed.

The wedding is in three months so there’s enough time to think of something ideal. I like retro along with the idea of going to a retro event. Today I see myself as Audrey but who knows what will become of it? You never know, maybe something else will become my inspiration along the way.
